Experience

Database Administrator
2010 - 2011
My primary role was to establish and maintained reliable replication between MySQL database servers. I administered CentOS Linux servers, processing ETL jobs in MySQL. I also ran ETL on Microsoft SQL Server 2003 and 2008 servers. The job also included maintaining mailing lists, providing NCOA, suppression, deduplication, geographic and demographic filtration. Though I am no longer an employee, ThomasARTS continues to use my services as a contractor.
Database / ETL Developer
2007 - 2010
My role at iCentris involves data transfer and the schemas in which the data is stored. Getting the clients' data in to our system is foundational to our product. Speed, accuracy and reliability are paramount. Effective communication with business clients and in-house developers is essential. My day-to-day tasks involve designing, implementing and maintaining schemas and the flow of data. Reducing and removing bottlenecks in networking, disk I/O and processing has lead to a 92% cut in a 3-hour procedure which now takes only 15 minutes. I also wrote a Java application to extract structures, procedures, etc., from the Oracle Server to track changes over time in Subversion.
Database Administrator
2001 - 2006
I was a key participant in Lexington's conversion from FileMaker Pro to MySQL, normalizing and indexing data for optimal retrieval. I designed and implemented a dynamic application security system. I created a PHP-based monitor to log and police excessive database resource usage. I also automated multiple systems within FileMaker Pro prior to the conversion.
Applications Developer
1999 - 2001
I developed and maintained an ODBC-connected Microsoft Access sales commission reporting application which connected to an Oracle database. Development included Oracle PL/SQL Procedural and Object-Oriented Programming in Visual Basic for Applications. Honors included Employee of the Year award.
Help Desk Technician
1996 - 1998
Remotely diagnosed and resolved nationwide problems with coworkers' operating systems, networking and applications. Strong familiarity with weaknesses of and solutions for Microsoft operating systems and applications. Expanded Help Desk functionality to include end-user training and some database reporting. Won Employee of the Quarter award.
USConnect Education
